Objective
Football is a game played by 2 teams of eleven. The objective of this game is to score more points than the other team before the time runs out. nba jerseys wholesale , To score points a team must advance the football into the other team's end zone. A team can advance the ball by running or passing it, but to actually score points the team needs to pass the opposing team's goal line (Touchdown), kick the ball through the opposing team's goal posts (Field Goal), or tackle a ball carrier into their own end zone (Safety). A touchdown will give you 7 points, Field Goal 3 points, and Safety 2 points. To win the game the team must have the most points when the time runs out.
Field
The Game is played on a field that is 100 yards long. new hats , There are end zones on each end of the field that are 10 yards long. At the end of the end zones there are goalposts on each side of the field. These goalposts are 10 feet high and 18 ft 6 inches wide. Each team has 11 players on the field at a time. One team is on offense and one is on defense. The defense players are usually different from the offense players on a given team because there are different skills required on offense than on defense.
Start of the Game
The start of a football game always consists of a coin toss. During the coin toss members of both teams will approach the middle of the field while the referee conducts the toss. The toss will determine which team will kickoff and what side a team will defend. The team has three options if they win the toss.
1. Choose whether to receive or kick the opening kickoff
2. Choose which side they would like to defend
3. Defer and let the other team choose.
Whatever the winning team chooses the other team gets the second choice. wholesale basketball jerseys , So if the winner of the toss chooses to receive in the first half then the other team gets to decide which side they would like to defend.
Time Allowed
A football game consists of 4 quarters. Each quarter is 12 minutes long. After each quarter the team will switch sides on the field. After the second quarter of the game it is considered halftime and the players get to rest for a 15 minute intermission until that have to go back on the field and finish the second half. At the start of halftime whichever team received the ball at the beginning of the game will defend at the start of the 3rd quarter. So because of this it is very common for teams to try and get one last score before the start of second half because regardless of where the ball is, it will be reset in the beginning of the 3rd.
Advancing the Ball
To score a team must advance the ball on offense over the goal line or kick a field goal through the uprights. The team that has possession of the ball is on offense. They will get 4 downs to advance the ball 10 yards or the other team gets possession of the ball. If an offense is successful and does advance the ball 10 yards before their 4 downs are up it is called a first down. A first down means that they get another 4 downs to gain 10 yards. They will keep doing this until they score in the other team's end zone.
To start a down both teams will line up on the line of scrimmage. cheap nba jerseys , The line of scrimmage is the line on the field that the ball was last downed at. Neither team can pass this line until the ball is snapped. The ball is snapped by the offensive team to another player on offense (usually the quarterback). Once the ball is snapped the offense will try to advance the ball for a first down while the defense will try to stop them.
When the offense snaps the ball they have a couple of options for gaining yards. They can pass the ball to an eligible receiver on their team, or they can run the ball which is referred to as rushing. There are a few restrictions for passing the ball though. For instance, when passing the ball the team can only throw it from behind the line of scrimmage. Also a player may only pass the ball forward. Passing it backwards will result in a penalty.
Possession
Once an offensive player has possession of the ball he must hold on to it until he gets considered down. To be considered down your knee has to be on the ground with the ball in control. Once a player is down the play is over and it is time for the next down. oakley sunglasses sale , If a player losses possession before he is down it is considered a fumble. During a fumble the defensive team is eligible to get the ball and turn the ball over on downs. The offense can also lose possession on a pass play as well. The defensive team can intercept the ball from a pass and turn the ball over that way.
Punting
If offensive team does not think they can convert a first down on 4 downs they have the opportunity to use one of those downs to punt the ball. When punting the ball the defense will receive the punt and run it back for as many yards as they can until they are downed. Punting is a good way to keep the other teams from scoring points because instead of having them turn the ball over on the line of scrimmage you can push them back 40 yards from a punt. This gives your defense a chance to commit a turnover.
